Question:

What do you love most about your job?

Answer:

I love working at TKO because no 2 days are the same, we can go from being on a trip meeting interesting new people in San Jose, to sitting in our meeting room in sunny Haywards Heath planning our next project! I also enjoy working in a relatively small team as it allows me the flexibility to get involved in everything and learn all aspects of the company.

Question:

What do you enjoy doing in your own time?

Answer:

I love to spend my weekends catching up with friends, visiting new places and trying new food! One of my favourite things to do is visit Brick Lane market in London on Sunday’s, to try all the street food on offer and have a beer in the sunshine..

We like to think of ourselves as one big family. This attitude and the relationships that form because of this have everything to do with our focus, determination and success.

Question:

What’s your funniest memory from working at TKO?

Answer:

My funniest memory has to be encountering a real live sheep in our reception hallway, which was all the more surreal given the urban location of the TKO office. As I walked down the stairs the sheep wandered into view and started nibbling at the yucca plant. I’m not sure it enjoyed the plant and it soon lost interest. It’s strange when you encounter an animal, which when outside its normal environment suddenly gives the impression of being extremely dangerous! Of course, it was still just a sheep and with a little coaxing it trotted off into the car park and sat under the window. A few hours later a farmer turned up and took the sheep away. I bet that sheep amuses all the lambs with the story every year.

Question:

What is your favourite thing to do at the weekend?

Answer:

My favourite thing to do at the weekend is escaping to my beach hut. Sunbathing [except for 11 months of the year], fishing, kayaking, barbecuing, drinking, sleeping – it really is a reset button for the body and soul.

There’s a very unique vibe in the TKO office – Relaxed, yet focused. Professional, yet informal. Hard-working, yet stress-free.

Question:

What do you love most about your job/working at TKO?

Answer:

I’m not sure how many companies you could work for that would take you to Amsterdam, the Houses of Parliament, Silicon Valley and Sussex County Cricket Ground within your first few months of working there, but that’s what happens here. If we’re not visiting exhibitions or going to meet clients, we’re going on an office trip to, more often than not, somewhere none of us have ever been before. So, for someone who’s always loved travelling, I can’t think of a better place to be to learn about the industry and even better, the world at large.

Question:

What do you love most about life?

Answer:

It’s ability to surprise. It’s all well and good having a 5-year, 10 year or however many year plan but the reality is that it can all go out the window in a heartbeat. That’s not to say that you shouldn’t plan but the beauty of life lies in its unpredictability and learning that lesson will make you far better prepared to meet challenges than any amount of planning ever can. Plus, who really wants to live in a world without surprises, good or bad?

“The TKO team are like no other
team I’ve ever worked with.”

Question:

Favourite TKO trip?

Answer:

A trip with the TKO team to Helsinki in 2009 in late May included a night out with the editorial crew of Prosessori (the national electronics title which has since sadly been closed by its short-sighted publishing company). At the encouragement of the Prosessori journalists, I had enjoyed a little too much of the local Koskenkorva spirit and came out of a bar at midnight to find that it was still daylight – a slightly surreal experience.

Question:

How has TKO changed since you started?

Answer:

In 1998, publishers of print magazines controlled the gateway between electronics component manufacturers and their customers. The internet has blown the gateway wide open. Marketing communication has become a much more diverse, but much less well controlled and curated, activity.

We certainly like to live by the work hard, play hard mantra. Results are our number one priority, but we know how to smile along the way too.

Question:

What’s your most memorable trip with TKO trip?

Answer:

This is an easy one for me. It was in 2010 and I was on my first solo press tour with a client.
Everything was going well; we had just finished a great day with the Italian editors in Milan and we were due to head to the UK for the final day of our tour.
Both clients flew back to the UK from Milan ahead of me and I was due to fly back on a later flight.
I waited at the airport for my flight which had been delayed and then cancelled. So, there I was, stuck in Milan with no English speakers to offer any explanation or assistance. I managed to book myself on another flight at 6:30am the following morning and the airline, which shall remain nameless (but rhymes with measy-met) organised us hotel rooms by 3:00am. I managed to get 45 minutes sleep, had a shower and took a taxi back to the airport. Luckily my morning fight was on time and I landed and made it to the editor meeting 5 minutes before the editor or clients arrived.
To this day, our client does not know that I was stranded in Milan or only had only landed 45 minutes before the first meeting was due to start.

Question:

3 words to describe TKO?

Answer:

Adventurous, Innovative, Dedicated.

We certainly know how to work hard and our client success rating demonstrates this. But it’s so important that we all enjoy our work, and of course, have fun along the way. That’s the TKO way!

Carolynne

Question:

What do you love most about working at TKO?

Answer:

I love working at TKO as it never gets boring. It is a lovely office space to work in and the team are all very supportive of each other. For me personally, being a part-timer, I love the flexibility it offers me so I can get a healthy life work balance and get time to enjoy my 2 wonderful grandsons and our second home in France.

Question:

What is your favourite memory of TKO?

Answer:

I think my favourite TKO trip was to a Posh hotel in Surrey where we attended a wine tasting evening (Too much wine!!!) with a sumptuous meal. We all stayed the night and the following day had a lovely spa treatment of our choice. It was a great team building/relaxing time and good to spend leisure time with work colleagues.

“We really are like
one big family.”

Question:

What is your favourite thing to do at the weekend?

Answer:

Just relaxing this could be doing different days out or seeing friends and having a few drinks.

Kizzy!

And of course, our office wouldn’t be the same without the ever cheeky, ever tail-waggling, ever treat-hunting, Kizzy the office dog!
